Poralu Marine is pleased to share the completion of a marina at the heart of the Puerto Escondido Bay, in the Gulf of California (Mexico), for the Salcedo and Hamann families.
Specialising in the design of premium marinas all over the world, Poralu Marine is especially proud of this project that will be inaugurated during the summer. Of special note is the fact that the marina has been designed and built in complete harmony with its spectacular natural surroundings. The marina will allow the property investors to develop a high-end residential complex while still preserving their site from the aggressions of mass tourism and pass this legacy on to future generations.
The mission of this marina can be summarised in three points: Premium service, natural protection, remote adventure! “This project has highlighted three values which are in the DNA of our brand: high-end positioning, recyclable modular components and respect for the environment”, explains Rémy Benois, Poralu Marine’s Sales Manager for the Americas.
Poralu Marine modules used again fifteen years after their initial installation
The first phase, integrating private pontoons and a marina, provides more than 100 moorings for boats up to 60 metres in length. The pontoons, installed for the FONATUR agency of the Mexican government more than fifteen years ago on this site, were effectively reused. They had completely resisted this region’s hurricanes, which are as frequent as they are impressive. These modular sections fit into the new units just like a set of building blocks.
Mooring and harbour supply systems that respect the ocean floor
Respecting the environment means working hard on boat mooring and pontoon mooring. It is true that the design specifications required being able to accommodate mega yachts. The tourist economy needs these “giants” but it is also just as important to promote environmentally responsible tourism by making sure their anchors and mooring chains do not damage the ocean floor of this marine park. Poralu Marine has replaced the original anchor piles with a Seaflex anchoring system to lessen the impact on the biodiversity of this natural heritage.
Poralu Marine favours durable and highly-resistant equipment made from natural materials
Product quality was a determining factor for the Salcedo and Hamann families as aesthetics and respect for the environment are inseparable. The quality of the materials, in particular the durability of aluminium, won over the owners of this marina, that will be receiving boats of all sizes. The pontoons for the high-end residential project www.waicuri.com were chosen from the Poralu Marine premium range and its Ecoteck premium wood composite decking. At the same time, the customer chose the economical Nautic range with its Ecostyle polypropylene decking to roll out the marina since it had demonstrated its efficiency in the pontoons being reused in the new configuration.
The project was conducted in partnership with ICMS (Inland and Coastal Marina Systems). This company has designed floating wave attenuators comprised of 70-tonne modules made of high-performance concrete. Their quality is unrivalled in today’s market. Poralu Marine Inc put together a global service offer, including infrastructure protection that covers the possibility of violent hurricanes. The Puerto Escondido Marina project is the first joint venture for the two companies in America. Both had already successfully completed a particularly high-profile mission in London, at the St-Katharine Docks, in 2016/17.
Poralu Marine, present in America since 2001
This marina was entirely designed and manufactured at the Saint-Eustache production site (Quebec, Canada). The company has been operating in America under the Poralu Marine Inc name for 17 years. The site has a base of thirty employees. This great adventure has made Poralu Marine one of the leaders in its field on the American continent.
